Advertising & Sponsored Content Policy

JotRipple may earn revenue through advertising, sponsorships, partnerships, affiliate relationships, or other commercial arrangements.

Commercial support can help fund the research, editing, illustrations, website maintenance, and other work involved in publishing JotRipple. However, readers should be able to distinguish between independent editorial content and material created as part of a paid relationship.

This policy explains how we approach advertising, sponsored content, paid links, disclosures, and editorial independence.

Editorial Content and Advertising Are Different

JotRipple’s independent informational articles are created to answer reader questions and provide practical guidance.

An advertiser or sponsor should not be able to purchase a favorable factual conclusion in an independent editorial article.

When content exists because of a commercial relationship, we aim to disclose that relationship clearly rather than presenting paid material as completely independent editorial coverage.

Advertising

JotRipple may display advertising supplied directly by advertisers or through third-party advertising platforms.

Advertisements may appear:

  • within articles;
  • between sections of a page;
  • in sidebars;
  • in headers or footers;
  • in other clearly identifiable advertising areas.

The presence of an advertisement does not automatically mean that JotRipple endorses the advertiser, its products, or its claims.

Advertising arrangements should not determine the factual conclusions of independent JotRipple articles.

Sponsored Content

JotRipple may occasionally publish content created in connection with a sponsor or commercial partner.

Sponsored content should:

  • fit reasonably within the subjects JotRipple covers;
  • provide useful information for readers;
  • be clearly identified as sponsored, paid, or otherwise commercially supported when appropriate;
  • meet our basic standards for accuracy, clarity, and relevance;
  • avoid deceptive or unsupported claims.

Payment alone does not guarantee that submitted material will be published.

We may decline commercial content that does not fit JotRipple’s audience, editorial standards, or subject matter.

How Sponsored Content Is Disclosed

When a commercial relationship materially affects why content was created or published, we aim to use a disclosure that readers can reasonably notice and understand.

Depending on the arrangement, wording may include terms such as:

  • Sponsored;
  • Sponsored Content;
  • Paid Partnership;
  • Advertisement;
  • another clear description of the commercial relationship.

We do not intentionally hide a sponsorship only in fine print when the commercial relationship is important to understanding the content.

Paid Links

Links that exist because of payment, sponsorship, compensation, or another commercial arrangement are treated differently from ordinary editorial links.

Where appropriate, paid links may use attributes such as:

rel="sponsored"

or, depending on the circumstances:

rel="nofollow"

These attributes help distinguish commercially influenced links from ordinary editorial references.

JotRipple does not intend to sell links for the primary purpose of manipulating search-engine rankings or passing artificial ranking signals.

Editorial Links

Not every external link on JotRipple is commercial.

Independent articles may link to:

  • manufacturer specifications;
  • installation instructions;
  • reference material;
  • government or regulatory information;
  • retailer measuring guides;
  • other sources that help readers verify or better understand the information being discussed.

These links may be included because they are useful to the article, not because JotRipple received payment for placing them.

The existence of an editorial link should not be interpreted as a commercial endorsement unless the page states otherwise.

Sponsored Content Must Fit JotRipple

JotRipple is not intended to become a collection of unrelated sponsored articles.

Commercial content should have a reasonable connection to the subjects our readers expect to find on the site.

We may reject sponsored material involving topics that are unrelated to JotRipple’s editorial focus or that would make the site less useful or trustworthy for readers.

A commercial opportunity is not, by itself, a reason to publish a topic that does not belong on JotRipple.

Advertisers Do Not Control Independent Editorial Conclusions

An advertiser, sponsor, manufacturer, or commercial partner should not be allowed to rewrite an independent editorial article simply because its factual conclusions are commercially inconvenient.

Commercial partners may provide factual information about their own products or services, but JotRipple may independently review, verify, edit, clarify, or decline that information.

We do not promise positive coverage in exchange for payment.

Sponsored Articles May Be Edited

Commercially submitted content may be edited before or after publication to meet JotRipple’s standards.

Edits may address:

  • factual accuracy;
  • clarity;
  • grammar and formatting;
  • unsupported claims;
  • excessive promotional language;
  • irrelevant links;
  • disclosure requirements;
  • content that no longer meets our editorial standards.

Publication does not prevent JotRipple from correcting inaccurate information later.

Publication Is Not Necessarily Permanent

JotRipple may update, correct, restrict, or remove content when there is a legitimate editorial reason to do so.

Examples may include:

  • information becoming materially inaccurate or outdated;
  • broken or misleading commercial links;
  • undisclosed conflicts of interest;
  • legal or safety concerns;
  • content no longer meeting our editorial standards;
  • a page becoming irrelevant to JotRipple’s audience.

We do not make editorial decisions solely to preserve a commercial placement indefinitely.

Affiliate Relationships

JotRipple may use affiliate links in the future.

If a reader makes a qualifying purchase or takes another eligible action after following an affiliate link, JotRipple may receive a commission or other compensation.

When affiliate relationships are used, we aim to disclose them appropriately.

Affiliate compensation should not change the price paid by the reader unless the relevant offer specifically states otherwise.

The possibility of earning a commission should not be presented as evidence that a product is objectively the best choice for every reader.

Products, Samples, and Other Compensation

JotRipple may occasionally receive products, services, access, discounts, or other forms of compensation from companies.

If that relationship is materially relevant to the content, we aim to disclose it appropriately.

Receiving a product or other benefit should not guarantee favorable coverage.

We also do not claim to have personally tested a product unless such testing actually occurred.

Claims Made by Advertisers

Advertisers and sponsors are responsible for the claims they make about their own products and services.

JotRipple may review sponsored material for obvious factual or editorial problems, but publication should not be interpreted as independent verification of every claim made by a commercial partner.

Where a claim is important to a reader’s decision, readers may wish to confirm the information directly with the manufacturer, service provider, or other appropriate source.

Conflicts of Interest

When a financial or commercial relationship could reasonably affect how readers interpret an article, we aim to disclose that relationship.

The goal is to give readers enough information to understand whether content or a recommendation has a relevant commercial connection.

Corrections to Sponsored Content

Sponsored status does not exempt an article from corrections.

If sponsored content contains a material factual error, JotRipple may correct, clarify, or remove the inaccurate information.

A sponsor should not be permitted to prevent a necessary factual correction.

For more information about how we handle errors, see our Corrections Policy.

Our Broader Editorial Standards

Advertising and sponsorship are only one part of our publishing process.
